Here is a video clip of one of our lawyers explaining the concept of "Valuation Date", known in Ontario as the date on which separation occurs. It is important because it commences the time in which the law starts counting the 1 year of separation necessary to get divorced and it is the date at which assets and property values will likely be noted if and when assets are divided.
